Yes! We are pleased to make Farmstead Fest a family-friendly experience.
Children ages 12 and under are welcome to join parents for free. Teens age 13-17 must present a teen ticket for entry.
We offer optional Toddler and Youth programming. Find more information on our Youth Programs page.
Our friends at Youth Outdoor Workshops will be coordinating and designing our youth programs, and we are so grateful for their partnership & expertise!

Farmstead Fest is held at Moonrise Farmstead, a historic 19-acre property in Aylett, Virginia. 35 minutes North of Richmond, 90 minutes South of Washington DC. Visit their website to learn more.
Ashland, VA is the nearest town (23-minute drive). While we encourage camping, we understand some folks may prefer other accommodations. If you prefer to stay in a hotel or airbnb these areas are nearby: Ashalnd, Aylett, Doswell, Hanover, Tappahanock, and Mechanicsville.

We are hosting and all-camp potluck on Friday evening to kick our Festival off with some good old fashion community-building. Please bring a dish to share! Feel free to prepare your dish ahead of time or once you have arrived and set up camp.

In addition to our potluck on Friday night, we will have food trucks and food vendors on site for you to purchase meals and snacks on Saturday and Sunday. We will offer a snack share table as well! We hope you will enjoy the array of options offered. We will update this website as we confirm vendors.
Please also feel free to bring any food items you wish to prepare at your campsite, and/or share with fellow campers.

We offer speakers and hands-on workshops around growing food, growing herbs and flowers, farming on every scale, raising livestock, backyard homesteading, troubleshooting animal health, general health and wellness, and more!

We are offering a primitive camping experience. We will have composting outhouses and port-o-johns available for your bathroom needs. We will also provide a handwashing station. Showers will not be provided.

Please bring your water for the weekend. We will have drinking water available as needed, but please come prepared with the amount of water you will need for the weekend.

We encourage festival participants to camp out with us for the weekend! We are offering primitive camping on Friday and Saturday evenings. Tent and car camping are welcome! Please come prepared with your water, electric and cooking needs.
Campsites will be assigned upon arrival.
We will have limited spaces for RVs (without hookups).
Thursday night camping add-on is available for vendors, speakers, and volunteers only.

Unfortunately, we must ask you to leave all your fur and feathered animals at home. This is for the safety of our participants as well as the animals at Moonrise Farmstead.
